City Clerk Eric Beckman

He joined the United States Army as a Military Police officer and served from 1984-1994. He was stationed in Germany, Maryland, Hawaii, and Georgia. During his time in the military he performed duties in the Battalion Commander’s office, the Post Commander’s office and Liaison’s officer with the Honolulu Police Department. He also deployed to Panama for Operation Just Cause. His last duty station was at Ft. McPherson, Georgia where he served in the Honor Guard.

February 1994 he left the military and attended the police academy at the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy. April 1994 he was hired by the Lake City Police Department. He served in the Police Department from 1994 to 1999 and was promoted from patrol officer to Corporal.

In 1999, he transferred to the City Hall as the assistant to the Clerk of Court. Over time, his responsibilities expanded to permits, zoning and business licensing. In 2005, he was assigned as the Court Administrator and in 2012 he was appointed as City Clerk.

He maintains the responsibilities of Court Administrator, as well as his POST certification and remains a sworn Lake City Police Officer, although he isn't an active patrol officer.
