Does the City have a sanitation service?
Yes, all Lake City residents must have sanitation service through the City. The charge for service is $204.00 per year and this amount is billed annually to the property owner on their Lake City property tax bill. To start sanitation service you must call City Hall @ 404-366-8080 to set up an account.
What company handles the City of Lake City's garbage service?
Waste Management is the City's current provider for garbage service. Residents should NOT contact Waste Management for sanitation service. All communication regarding sanitation must go directly through City Hall.
Why do customers have to pay for a service they don't use?
Garbage service is required in the City's ordinance and must be active at every residential address in the city regardless of whether or not a resident is living at the residence or takes advantage of the garbage service.
Does the City have a recycling program?
Yes, a recycle bin is provided to each resident. Pickup day is Friday. You may recycle HDPE and PET plastics, newsprint, cardboard and aluminum and bi-metal cans. NO GLASS Items.
When is sanitation pickup day?
Sanitation pickup day is Friday. Please have your trash bin and recycle bin placed at the curb side by Thursday night or 6 AM Friday. There are no set route times for pickups. If a holiday falls on a weekday the pickup date will move to Saturday. Trash bins must be removed from curbs by Sunday at 6PM.
Does the City have a leaf and limb pickup?
Yes, the pickup is on Friday. Each resident is allowed 5 bags/cans or tied-up bundles of limbs each week. There is a 50 cent charge for each bag/can or bundle over 5. All bags and bundles must weigh less than 30 lbs and limbs must be shorter than 3 foot in length.
Will the City pick up bulk waste items?
Yes, bulk waste is any item that will not fit in your trash bin (refrigerators, mattresses, furniture, etc.). These items are subject to a Special pick-up and charge at terms and conditions mutually agreed to between the City of Lake City and the resident. Before placing items at the street contact Lake City Public Works @ 404-366-8080 to arrange for a special pick-up and to get a price.
What department handles water drainage issues?
Water drainage issues are handled by Clayton County Storm Water Utility @ 770-960-5200.
Who do I report a street problem to?
Report all street problems to the Lake City Public Works Department @ 404-366-8080. Please keep in mind the problem may be on a City, County or State roadway.
Who do I report street light outages to?
Call the Lake City Public Works Department @ 404-366-8080 to report street light problems. Please advise us of the problem (light out, on/off or blinking) and address of the pole in question. We will contact Georgia Power for repair.
Who do I report a dead animal to?
The City is not allowed to remove a dead animal from private property. We will only remove dead animals on the City right of ways and roadways. Personal family pets need to be taken to your family veterinarian.
