The Lake City Mayor and Council have tentatively adopted a 2024 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by 9.76 percent.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on this tax increase to be held at the Municipal Building at 5455 Jonesboro Road on November 27, 2024 at 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Times and places of an additional public hearing on this tax increase is at the Municipal Building on December 4, 2024 at 10:00 am.
This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 7.5 mills, an increase of 0.667 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 6.833 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $100,000 is approximately $26.68 and the proposed tax increase for a non-homestead property with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $53.36.
