Important Property Tax Information
Lake City has partnered with the Clayton County Tax Commissioner beginning in tax year 2025 to simplify the tax payment and collection process. In April, we signed an intergovernmental agreement for the delivery of ad valorem tax billing and collection services by the Clayton County tax Commissioner. In simpler terms, the Clayton County Tax Commissioner will bill and accept payments for City taxes as well as county taxes starting this year. The City tax amounts will appear on the County tax bill and those statements should go out in the mail towards the end of the 3rd quarter with a due date coinciding with the County’s tax due date. In summary, the 2025 property tax bill you receive from Clayton County is a combined bill that accounts for both county and city property taxes.
